The Vatican Museums are closed most Sundays
Vatican Museums, Rome, Lazio
Published Oct 10, 2026 · RegretMap travel note
The situation
The Vatican Museums close on Sundays, apart from a free-entry last Sunday of the month that draws enormous queues. A Sunday plan for the Sistine Chapel rarely works out.
The lesson
Book a weekday slot online, ideally first thing in the morning.
